AT&T and Panasonic have teamed up to test a connected car concept to Peachtree City Georgia. The two companies will work together to test consumer and commuter based features for connected cars including in-car entertainment and emergency services.

Forrester has a new report out today that maps out the post-PC era of computing. (Paid report here) Its written from a product development point of view and has some good information but leaves out one of the biggest and most interesting post-PC platforms: telematics.

Microsoft and Toyota announced today they will form a partnership to deliver next-generation telematics solutions for Toyota’s customers. Telematics can range from GPS to in car emergency call services but also include remote battery charging management in new electronic vehicles.
From the press release: “TMC’s goal is to establish a complete global cloud platform by 2015 that will provide affordable and advanced telematics services to Toyota automotive customers around the world.”

Even though its just for Ford Festas the whole SYNC platform is making solid progress and its not hard to imagine some kind of open API for smart phone app developers to use to make their apps work with the voice control of SYNC.
