I have been following several major trends over the past years that will eventually converge.  In the early part of the decade past I was interested in using wireless technology to monitor home energy consumption. Years later we have the wireless infrastructure.

I have also been interested in fiat currencies and the likelyhood that new fiat currencies would emerge from non-traditional players. Companies like Facebook have turned into global powerhouses that control eyeballs, attention and word of mouth marketing, enabling them to provide frequent flyer type virtual credits.  Today these credits are used to purchase virtual goods but the line between virtual and “real” continues to blur.  At some point you may earn FB credits for saving energy in your home that you can use to purchase songs on iTunes. You may decide to make that song purchase from your internet and commerce enable car.

Predicting the future is never easy but watching big trends like wireless and energy infrastructure, data enabled cars, virtual environments, fiat currencies and social media production help me make educated guesses about what comes next.  I hope you will enjoy the breadth of issues I highlight here.
